News in the Bi-State Region
January 28, 2015 – Kathleen Repass, Project Manager for the Henry-Rural Rock Island-Mercer County Economic Development Consortium, provided an update on the Rural Jobs Accelerator Grant Initiative (RJAGI), which covers Henry and Mercer Counties and rural portions of Rock Island County. The three-year grant period began January 2013 and goes through September 2015. Grant funds provided for 1.75 staff to increase economic development capacity.
January 28, 2015 – Laura Berkley, Senior Planner, provided a brief update on the status of the 2015 Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) Progress Report. The CEDS is updated annually and fully redeveloped every five years. The strategy must be completed for the region to receive federal funds from the Economic Development Administration (EDA).
January 14, 2015 – The highest elected official or other administrative staff in your community may have recently received a correspondence from the U.S. Census Bureau related to the Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS) Program. This is an important opportunity for your community to ensure that its boundaries are correct in the Census Bureau files. The Census Bureau uses the boundary information collected in the BAS to tabulate data for the decennial and economic censuses, and annual estimates and surveys such as the Population Estimates Program and the American Community Survey. December 17, 2014 – In 2015, Bi-State staff is instituting a member government liaison program. Our goal is to enhance outreach and understanding of our member needs. The Bi-State Mission is “to provide a forum for intergovernmental cooperation and serve our members through technical assistance.”
