ROCK ISLAND COUNTY MULTI-JURISDICTIONAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN

Bi-State is working with the Rock Island County Emergency Management Agency to update its 2021 Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP).  Hazard mitigation planning is an important community effort focused on reducing the impacts of natural hazards before disasters occur.  Plans are updated every five years. You can view the county’s 2021 plan here: https://www.rockislandcountyil.gov/392/Hazard-Mitigation-Plan

Hazard mitigation planning helps communities understand the natural hazards that could affect residents, businesses, infrastructure and develop practical strategies to reduce their impacts.  The planning process brings together local governments, emergency management officials, public agencies, community organizations, and residents to identify local risks and develop a mitigation strategy to protect the community.

Throughout the planning process, Rock Island County will provide opportunities for public participation to inform and comment on the draft plan.  Information on upcoming meetings, public input opportunities, and future drafts will be posted on this page, as it becomes available.  Please check back for future updates!  If you have questions about the planning process, please contact Lisa Ahern [This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or Natalie Murphy [This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Together, we can identify local risks, develop practical mitigation strategies, and help create a safer and more resilient Rock Island County!
